Abstract

Designed to give insulation and heat resistance to flat strip cable, the cable core in twin- or triple-core structures is clad with an unsintered PTFE paste by an extruder, to be wound round a drum. The windings are tightly packed, or spaced, or spaced in groups, for the profiled PTFE to bond with its neighbour in a web or step form when the cable carries the material through a sintering process. After sintering the cable loops are cut into lengths, determined by the circumference of the drum, for use with printed circuits and in computer applications.
